Cementerio de la Recoleta
Admire the 4,691 elaborate and varied vaults of Cementerio de la Recoleta. The mausoleums display a wide array of architectural styles, sculptures, and motifs, from Baroque to Art Deco, many constructed from materials imported from Paris and Milan. The cemetery serves as the final resting place for artists, actors, writers, and Nobel Prize winners, 19 Argentine presidents, and the beloved icon Eva Perón. Although some tombs are protected by the government, parts of the cemetery have fallen into disrepair. While the cemetery can be explored without a guide, having someone to recount the stories behind the different mausoleums can greatly enrich your trip. A visit to Cementerio de la Recoleta represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Buenos Aires travel route planner to plot your vacation.

Amazing place, is like visit a museum. Totally worth the time and the ticket cost. Better go with a guide that can tell you all the story behind the scenes

It was an interesting visit to the cemetery and so much of details taken care of in the site, check timing before you visit to ensure that you get time to visit

Beautiful architecture and many of the most renowned politicians and high society names can be found here, including Evita's grave. So many interesting statues , including a couple who requested to be looking in opposite directions. A lot of history, lots of money. Unfortunately, many of the graves are not properly taken care of. Still worth visiting.

Celebration of Death is a concept which differs from place to place, religion religion and culture to culture. But even when this occasion is celebrated, there can be no better place to do so that the Recoleta Cemetery, in Buenos Aires. It is not just a cemetery but a custodian of art and beauty. Was surprised that it is still used actively and I witnessed a funeral in progress. A few hours is needed to walk around this cemetery and every minute of that walk is memorable

Absolutely great experience. Though we didn’t have a guide (which I am sure would make it much more interesting) we liked the beauty. It was smaller than I expected but each mausoleum was different and it was very interesting. Ticket for a foreigner cost around 12EUR.

I know it might seem weird to go and check out a cemetery... but it really is a very interesting, beautiful, and oddly intriguing place! We found the Evita tomb and some other very tombs.

Entrance is not free. 1400 argentino pesos is the entrance fee. The place is very beautiful. It's one of the most haunted places in Argentina and also one of the best cymetry in the world. Many famous person not sleeping peacefully here. Must visit place if you are in Argentina. Take around 2 hours to visit whole place. Try to go in the morning so you can roam outside and there are shops available.
