Royal Flying Doctor Service Museum
Learn all about the world's very first flying doctor service, established in Alice Springs in 1926, at Royal Flying Doctor Service Museum. The flying doctor service has provided 24-hour emergency medical assistance for over 80 years to those who live, work, and travel throughout Australia. Today, the service provides care to more than 275,000 Australians each year. You can visit the original working base of the service, in operation since 1939. This is a non-profit organization, with all of its earnings made from tours, purchases made at the on-site cafe, and online store. All proceeds go toward medical equipment. Great experience of how John Flynn started the royal flying doctor service. Good souvenir shop, there is a movie to watch in the place, there is virtual reality glasses to experience the patient or pilot of the royal flying doctor service. There is also a life size replica of the plane that you can go inside. You have to pay to go in but it's worth it. Overall great experience.

Wow! A very informative experience. I came out very impressed with the passion of the team on duty during my visit and the quality of the exhibits. Learnt so much about the history of the Royal Flying Doctor Service and its past and ongoing contributions to Australians. Tours conducted every 30 minutes and are highly recommended. The museum and the VR stations are also very interesting. Souvenir shop is also well stocked. All proceeds from ticket sales and merchandise sales go to their operations. Toilets are ridiculously clean! Hospital grade!! Their on-site cafe (Base Cafe) is also highly recommended but please be patient due to their lack of staff.

To learn more about this cause was amazing. To be interactive through technology was even more eye opening. What a great place, with knowledgeable, helpful staff. An experience worth going for.

A nice museum to visit in Alice springs (it's located almost opposite to Alice springs reptile centre). Depicting the history of royal flying doctor service, there's lots to look at. There's a documentary film available to watch inside the theater along with souvenir shops etc.

I love the food here, so yummy. Oddly though, the salads don't always match the mains but thats fun cause they're delicious. On that, when having a side salad with a main it is a bit steep at $6 for a very small portion. Enough about the salads, I also wanted to shout out to Dixie who really brought the energy. They were welcoming and lovely, very onto it! The other staff have all been gorgeous I just think Dixie needed a special mention.
