Wineglass Bay Lookout
A gentle walk of about one hour, leading through lush vegetation abundant with native wildlife, takes visitors to Wineglass Bay Lookout, situated within the Freycinet National Park. As you proceed along this trail, take a few moments to rest on the wooden furniture designed and built by local architecture students. As you catch your breath, keep an eye out for wombats and wallabies peeking out from behind the surrounding bushes. From the top, you can see not only the crescent of the wineglass-shaped bay (hence the name), but also green hills and mountains stretching into the distance. In addition to taking photos from here, you can explore other trails before returning to the bay. Work out when and for how long to visit Wineglass Bay Lookout and other Coles Bay attractions using our handy Coles Bay planning site.

We were returning to experience the lookout after 20+ years. My word the track has improved - a credit to the authorities. Obviously there are still a lot of steps but its been carefully graded & drainage installed. Viewpoints & occasional rest stops improved too. Took us oldies 30 minutes to the top, and the top viewing area is very much improved with a short loop walk & extra viewing areas Coming down the new one way system is a good idea as removes congestion. A very good walk taking us about 1.75 hours as we hung around up the top for ages.

Took us just under two hours round trip to get to Wineglass Bay Beach with just some water and a few stops for photos. Didn't spend much time on the beach either. Hope this helps some their times were quite a bit longer than we experienced but we were walking briskly. If you're quiet a wallaby might be visible on the far side by the bay.

Challenging but achievable walk with amazing views. If you have the time, I’d definitely recommend crossing the isthmus track and looping back via Hazards Beach. It’s a lot quieter (and flatter) and took us about 4 hours round trip
-
Incredibly stunning. We did the 3km track which was the easiest one but still got to see great views. The tracks are very well maintained and safe. Suitable for all hikers. Went on Saturday and it wasn’t too busy.

Absolutely stunning location. Suggest doing the Wine Glass Bay and Hazards Beach walk, which is around 5.5+ hrs. You absolutely need to go prepared with a strong mosquito repellent and wear walking boots, plus take plenty of water. Moderate level of fitness.
