Thistle Cove is best known for its intriguingly sculpted granite boulders, including a "whistling" rock that captures the sound of the wind. This secluded small bay features a sandy beach fringed by sloping granite rocks and backed by freshwater wetlands. In addition to swimming, snorkeling, diving, and surfing, visitors often go for a bushwalk to the nearby Lucky Bay, which provides rewarding views over rugged headlands sloping steeply into the ocean. Amenities include a picnic table. Add Thistle Cove to your Esperance travel itinerary, and discover new vacation ideas by using our Esperance tour itinerary planner.

  • Close to Lucky Bay, but smaller, less people, and stunning. Worth calling in en route to or from Lucky Bay.

  • This is a nice little beach. Good for swimming (no lifeguard) & a great outlook. Worth the park admission fee on it's own.

  • Second best beach and bay in the area, preferred Hellfire Bay. Beautiful and sheltered, great for swimming and exploring.
  • Beautiful beach. My favourite in Cape Le Grand National Park with Cape Le Grand beach a close second. STUNNING spot
  • Probably the best beach in cape Le grand national park. Amazing water and the cleanest sand ever walked on. A nice little walking track down to the beach. Highly recommend.
  • Thistle Cove This is a small beach in Cape Le Grand and is a little bit stony at some of the waters edge. It is great in that it is a fairly quiet beach, people wise, but other than the beautiful colour of the water, there really isn’t too much to do here. There is a plaque in memory of the Master Mariner who it is named after. There is, of course, free parking and it is a little bit difficult if you have mobility issues or a pram but not insurmountable.
  • The best beach at Cape Le Grande National Park in my view. Absolutely beautiful. Hidden gem.
