The jewel of Fraser Island is Lake McKenzie, famous for its crystal blue waters and white sands. The area surrounding the lake is the most popular tourist attraction on the island, so it can get crowded during the middle of the day in peak season. The sands around the lake are composed of white silica, and the lake's purity makes it unsuitable for most species. You can swim in this clean water, relax on the sandy beach, or explore the forest surrounding it. A camping area and a picnic area are nearby, along with barbecues. Near the lake is a popular bush trail, where you can see giant fern trees. Lake McKenzie is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , custom trip planner Edition.

Beautiful lake, crystal clear water and white sands. Amazing spot for photos.

We did a two day tour and went to other K’Gari highlights. Lake McKenzie is a must & the best on the island. There’s not many places to go swimming, so it can get very busy. Remember no food is allowed at lake mckenzie because of dingos.
