Fremantle Prison
On the UNESCO World Heritage List as one of 11 Australian Convict Sites, Fremantle Prison paints a vivid image of the country's penal-colony history. Convicts built the prison in the 1850s. Today you can explore the prison on a guided tour, including a torch-lit option. Navigate tunnels 20 m (65 ft) beneath the ground on foot and by boat. The prison art gallery sells pieces created by current and ex-prisoners in Western Australia. A really fascinating place to visit. Learning about how it was built and how the prisoners were living and the number of stories just keeps you wondering. A great place for history lovers. They have different types of tickets available for day tours and night tours. It's best to buy the tickets in advance especially if visiting on weekends. A must visit and is suitable for all ages.

Fantastic tour!! Wow what a great day. We came here on the spur of the moment and loved it. We were able to book a tour without pre booking which was so handy. We booked the "Behind Bars" which covered the history of the jail. Our tour guide James was amazing 👏 Such an informative and knowledgeable tour guide with a great personality. James knew how to keep us interested and his jail trivia was fascinating. Thanks James!! 😊 Free parts are available for viewing by the public including the art gallery. The art is contributed by current inmates of WA. Highly recommend giving the jail a visit and doing a tour.

Did the Fremantle Prison Torchlight Tour. Highly recommend. Our guide was fantastic in educating and keeping the group engaged. Lots of interesting facts and anecdotes. There are a few pleasant surprises along. They provide each guest a torch for the journey which you get to keep as a souvenir.

This place is AMAZING, so full of history and very knowledgeable tour guides. My 10 and 11 year old daughters and myself had a fantastic time on the 8.45pm torchlight tour tonight ( 9/12/2022 ) the only downside is some negative Nancies wrote a letter/complained about the dummy falling from above and they had to get rid of it. I was really looking forward to that part, it was always my favourite part. I can't wait to come back.

Fascinating landmark prison in the heart of Fremantle. This World Heritage site has a lot to offer with different tours available on the hour at reasonable prices. Tours include the convict era, behind-bars, true crime, tunnels and night tours. Each tour goes for approximately 1 hour 15 minutes and it is certainly worth your time. The tour guides will tell you interesting stories about both the prison ground and the prisoners. Having done the true crime tour, it was great to learn of the fascinating stories of the men and women that have done time behind these walls. True stories on how they lived, the crimes they committed and the times they tried to (or did) escape were an unforgettable experience.
