At Barron Falls, walk down the gently sloping boardwalk to the viewing point and see where the Barron River descends to the Cairns coastal plain. Protected within the Barron Gorge National Park, substantial rainfalls occur during the rainy season. The falls are used to supply the Barron Gorge Hydroelectric Power Station located downstream. Bring your lunch and have a picnic or grab a bite at one of the eateries. You can reach the falls via the Kuranda Scenic Railway or Skyrail aerial tram. Before you head to Kuranda, plan trip itinerary details with our user-friendly Kuranda day trip site, to make sure you see all that Kuranda has to offer, including Barron Falls.

Saw them from afar. Not much water although they had plenty of rain. Best view from Cablecar going to Kuranda.

Amazing place for a day out. Head up the mountain in the cable car and down on an incredible railway journey. At the top enjoy views of the falls and there are lots of places to eat.

A must to do in Cairns!!! Barron Falls (Aboriginal: Din Din) is a steep tiered 125 m cascade waterfall on the Barron River located 25 Km NW of Cairns, Queensland, Australia. It may be viewed and reached by road via the Kennedy Highway that crosses the Barron River upstream of the falls, near Kuranda. It could also be reached via Kuranda Scenic Railway and the Skyrail. The falls were named for Thomas Henry Bowman Barron, the Chief Clerk of Police in Brisbane in the 1860s. Highly recommended.

I am fairly sure that you can only access Barron Falls via the Sky Way Cable Car which is another whole wonderful story. You can stop along the way on the Sky Way and get off a Barron Falls there is a boardwalk to a great view where I was able to take the photos of the falls. Located right in the middle of the rainforest if you are in Cairns you must do it

Nice little walk to falls and a breathtaking view. If you are going to Kuranda drive the extra bit and make the walk. The falls were not roaring when we were there but still beautiful.

Our visit coincided with our return from Kuranda via the Sky Rail. Beautiful weather and a great day to be out, but unfortunately, given we visited in dry season, the falls were not that spectacular. Easy access to the viewing platforms, but I wasn't aware of disability access... Maybe worth another visit in January / February when the rains have come...
