Located in the heart of Melbourne, Fitzroy Gardens add to the city’s claim to being the Garden City of Australia. Within 26 hectares (64 acres) of the gardens, you will find Victorian-era landscaped lawns and avenues lined with English elms, unusual fountains, and flowers. Visit Captain Cook’s Cottage, the former Yorkshire home of the English captain who discovered Australia. The cottage was shipped and reconstructed stone by stone in 1934. Nearby is quirky carved Fairies’ Tree, a 300-year-old stump embellished with pixies and kangaroos. As you stroll through the gardens, stop at a replica Tudor village. Walk the People’s Path, a loop walkway paved with 10,000 engraved bricks. Keep your eyes open for possums and ducks. Using our online itinerary creator, Melbourne attractions like Fitzroy Gardens can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

We enjoyed our stroll around the Fitzroy Gardens — small enough to see all of it, and several little exhibit areas, including a miniature Shakespearean village, a Faerie Tree, the dolphin fountain...

A magnificent green gem at the border of city blocks. We took a leisurely walk on a sunny Spring day when the rain went away and visited The Conservatory and plants, fairy tree, mini Tudor village, dolphin fountain and park spaces. There are very pretty flowers within and around the conservatory. There's limited metered parking around the park if you are visiting by car.

A great space with lots of room for picnics and kids to run around, plenty of history, some art and a lovely conservatory. Accessible to trams and located right next to the treasury gardens. Toilets are unfortunately located in a far corner though rather than at the information centre.

Love these gardens, I've been coming here for year's. Such a great spot just to chill and zone out or picnic with friend's or family. My dog's love this the gardens as much as I do and it's conveniently close to home.

So nice to be here during winter time. Love the colours on the trees, The nice fresh air and the cool breeze. Big Park in the heart of the city of Melbourne, a great place for a walk and shake the stress out of yourself disconnecting you for a good moment from the busy streets of downtown.

Fitzroy Gardens is the most favourite and best place to refresh your mind and enjoy. There are lots of things to do in these Gardens. I like The mini city and near the city there is a fairly tree. The play ground is so beautiful for kids. You can walk around the Gardens and enjoy the amazing views in the centre of the city. There are lots of fountains and small areas of water. I advise you to visit this beautiful place and enjoy it.
