Spent a peaceful few hours kayaking on the reservoir. Shout out for Ben, a ranger, who was incredibly helpful. Bring your kayak wheels!

The view from the lookout is picturesque. There’s ample enough parking spots. The environment is calm and quiet. I would say peaceful. You can take a drive on the banks of the dam too. However large vehicles have restrictions. There are a lot of people coming to visit the dam. The day we went, the water levels were a little high due to rain during the week.

Beautiful area with stunning views of the reservoir from the lookout and views of the south western coastline on the way. Highly recommend visiting this area and the park on the other side of the reservoir. Free parking is available but can get busy on weekends.

Was there on a weekday....few people...you MUST go on the deck and peep down otherwise you won't enjoy seeing the zigzag access road to the dam...can drive across the top but can't stop. Supplies surrounding areas only...no toilets available there.

A WONDERFUL ASSET FOR THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA For too long reservoirs like the one at Myponga have been places you drive past, surrounded by Cyclone fencing & closed to the public. But this has changed and how lucky we are. Today my wife & I had the pleasure of walking the Myponga Reservoir Trail and it was an absolute delight. Last night we downloaded a map and this morning commenced the walk at the car park, where there are good, clean toilets and a water bottle refilling station. Within 50 metres we saw the first of many kangaroos and a large squadron of pelicans on the water with cormorants, ducks & black swans. The well-signposted track on the south east side of the reservoir takes you through open plains, forested areas and native vegetation. It is suitable for walking, running & cycling and there were plenty of people enjoying the magnificent weather. It was good to see so much water there in mid-summer and the views were magnificent, with several lookouts to just sit and enjoy the serenity as well as picnic sites for families to make the most of the location. The 3.3 km return walk takes about 60 minutes, or longer if you stop to just look or appreciate the scenery. Later in the day (after lunch at Forktree Brewing) we drove back across the dam wall and stopped at the lookout on the western side of the reservoir for a stunning view of the reservoir, the dam wall and its spillway. Congratulations to our government for making this so accessible. Highly recommended.
