The Big Pineapple, Nambour

I visited here on 19 th July 2022 and unfortunately it’s not even a shadow of its former glory! I often came here in the 1980s when it was a fully functional mega tourist facility. However since the new Nambour by pass went through patronage dropped off which is a shame. Currently it’s just a very basic unattractive cafe running at the front yard and due to Covid restrictions these is no access up the iconic big pineapple. In its hey day there were big “ everything “ all the way up the Sunshine Coast.Big bottle big cow big deer. There was even a big lawnmower! I just look forward to the time when this iconic landmark can be restored to full function with the cane train rides etc that made it all such a happy experience

The big pineapple was once a nice attraction but it looks like it's been let run down. We took our children in 2000 and they had a nice shop and a pine apple plantation, but not now. Unfortunately.

Currently, unfortunately it's not what it used to be. You can't go inside the pineapple, you can't ride the train, nothing is growing there and the shop has minimal stock. You can still take photos in front of the giant pineapple with minimal wait. I was told that big things are planned, so watch this space. Hopefully not too much longer.

Don’t waste you time. Nothing worth while what a disappointment. There is a pretty lame looking take away with a few tables outside. Everything is chained up. You can’t even go into the pineapple and the train isn’t operating. Nothing is. The only thing you can do is take a pic of the big pineapple which doesn’t look that bad from the outside. I read up about it on Wikipedia. You wonder how a place that had 1m visitors a year could go into receivership. I went there A LONG LONG time ago and it was pretty dam good but wow what a disappointment now. The only reason you’d come here is if you like to see and photo all the BIG things in Australia

There was nothing to do there. Previously used to be able to climb in. It's just a big pineapple. The cafe has ice cream... It's not bad, recommend the icy poles The bathroom was terrible but glad there was one 😂
