Penguin Island, Rockingham

Great place to visit! The ferry ticket is $25 round trip bought at the information center. There are a lot of pelicans living here . The whole island can be covered in about an hour also here great for surfing and snorkel!

Canoeing to the Penguin island felt like a nice little adventure for us. We've been guided by Rivergod to do canoeing from Sealion island to Penguin island. It was on December, not too hot and a bit windy. It was a perfect day for us as the guide gave us all the information about the island and the animals there. I would recommend to get yourself a guide if you want to go with your family. Otherwise, visiting by yourself and relax will be fun too.

Decided to not take the ferry, and had a very fun walk over through the ocean. Make sure to plan ahead and check the tide as it was around chest height. Unfortunately, I recommend people to not visit the island as the population of penguins has dropped from 2,000 to under 200 in just the last couple years due to tourism. Staff there were upset that conservation efforts weren’t started sooner. The island was full of birds, but I didn’t see any penguins. This time of year is also nesting season which can cause stress to the birds.

Great place to see wildlife. I suggest tourists to go before 1.00pm. Sometimes they stop ⛴ at 1.00pm. There is a sand bar next to penguin island. Don’t forget to visit that place also. And after that try fish and chips

Small and cozy place to go around with family. Loved seeing some birds and reptiles!!!
