There are two buildings - north a more modern one and south the original gallery, which offer a really wide spectrum of art and experiences that one can spend a whole day there

An outstanding gallery, truly the mainstay of Sydney’s art scene. The remodelling of their classic rooms is a must see once fully reopened, and the Archibald always attracts significant talent and some truly breathtaking portraits. Also don’t sleep on the free exhibits downstairs - oftentimes there are some understated and lesser-known (read: not mainstream enough for the average/passive consumers of art) artists displaying real killer stuff.

Love coming here for the special exhibits. The permanent exhibits quite good too- best place to spend the day if you are bored , so much to see and there's food here too which ain't too badly priced. Clean, well maintained, air conditioned and spacious. Currently building a new section so I can't wait to see it when it's done!

The Art Gallery's new installations in their North building are phenomenal and definitely not something to sleep on. All floors had intriguing and beautiful art pieces, so I highly recommend you try and see everything the building had to offer. I recommend making an effort to view "The Tank" as it was incredibly breathtaking and am outstanding experience. The gift shop near the entrance is also a wonder as it has wonderful merchandise of some of my favourite art pieces. Staff members were all also incredibly nice and accommodating.

The Art Gallery of NSW is absolutely lovely! It has art from different parts of the world, including European, Asian and aboriginal works. Next to that, it’s very well organized and the information next to the paintings are useful. The entry is free, however you need to pay if you wish to visit an additional exposition, which constantly changes.

I skipped the Archibald exposition and really enjoyed seeing the permanent collections and the building itself. In December 2022 when the new building opens it is truly going to be a spectacular attraction. The restaurant has a great view over the city and laudable dining. Entry during construction is a bit convoluted especially during rainy days, be careful!
