Go for a swim on Freshwater Beach, a long stretch of sand bounded by jutting promontories on each side. Named for a small freshwater stream on the north end, the beach made surfing history in 1915, when "Duke" Kahanamoku carved a board and demonstrated surfing to a local crowd. Take advantage of the smooth, rolling waves and try your hand at boarding or bodysurfing. The family-friendly beach, patrolled by lifeguards, features a playground and saltwater pool. It was indeed a clean and nice beach to visit. Great place and less crowd. My husband and I had a great time.

Great beach for families with young kids. Often the waves are smaller and at low tide you can walk out pretty far so its a great place to get your kids on boards and get them used to catching waves.

Great beach for family, the water is shallow and waves are not strong creating a perfect place for kids playing with surf boards. Parking is a challenge, typically you have to park far from the beach.

I grew up in Southern Sydney so always went to the Shire during Summer. Somehow, this beach reminds me most of the Shire. Whenever I'm up North, I love this beach for a few reasons. It feels homely. It's in a nice bay/inlet. And most of all, it is perfect for body surfing because you can walk out 50m+ on the sand banks to catch waves. There's plenty of sand for everyone to sunbathe on, and everyone seems friendly. Honestly just the best!

A small, tiny beach, but astonishingly beautiful. a great place to walk, talk, swim, enjoy family and group gatherings. one of many beautiful beaches in Sydney north east.

I love this beach. Less crowded than Manly. You can also have a walk around the beach.

Really good beach then others. Stands out then other beaches at Sydney. Nice and cozy, waves were really good. Small beach but better then most of the big beaches.
