Visit Australia's longest church, St. Mary's Cathedral. Completed in 1882 in the Gothic Revival style, the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney provides an impressive profile as it stretches back from Hyde Park. From the outside, admire the yellow-block sandstone facade, Gothic windows, pointed arches, and sharp spires reaching skyward. Inside, crane your neck to take in the high central nave and scan the walls to view colorful stained-glass windows. Pope Pius XI bestowed on the church the honor of minor basilica in 1932, and Pope Benedict XVI visited it during World Youth Day in 2008. • Wow what a beautiful church! I loved the architecture and the stain glass windows. The alter was also amazing. If you’re in the area, it’s well worth the visit.

  • The security guard was really bad and impolite. He blocked with his arm touching the woman body and said an asia woman is stupid while letting some others people entered. The woman didn’t do...

  • Amazing structure. Stayed for vespers and very much enjoyed the experience. The choir and organist did a good job and the quiet time to pray was wonderful.

  • Today St Mary’s Cathedral is one of Australia’s most beautiful and significant buildings but it did not happen overnight. The Cathedral evolved through a long and patient timeline following a fire which destroyed the first St Mary’s Cathedral in 1865. It took close to 100 years to finally complete St Marys with the first stage constructed between 1866 and 1900 and stage two between 1912 and 1928 As you approach the cathedral, you can't help but be impressed by its size and grandeur. • Awesome place. No words to express the feelings. If you are visiting Sydney, this place is a must watch spot. It is peaceful and vibrant. There are pictures of Jesus's story on the walls and many worship places within the cathedral. It's really breathtaking. Even the walk towards the Cathedral, you can see a great fountain with characters of biblical references. We visited during the Christmas New Year period, and therefore, we also got to see the Christmas decorations and crib.
  • Sydney has so many under rated tourist attractions. Its a place that, you shouldn’t missed it’s magnificent architecture of Gothic style. Love the tranquility & serene in the cathedral. It’s so beautiful & amazing. Free admission
  • St Mary’s Cathedral is one of the historical places in the heart of Sydney every visitor should visit this fantastic place. The paintings, colourful windows, and architecture here are stunning. High columns and a very high ceiling, along with special decorations, are the characteristics of this location.
