Melba's Chocolate & Confectionery
The city’s famous Melba's Chocolate & Confectionery, offering visitors a chance to walk through several working chocolate production areas, is located inside a historic cheese factory. See how some of the country’s finest chocolates used to be made with a visit to the heritage sections of the site, which still house old chocolate- and confectionery-making machinery. Learn about traditional methods of creating a variety of sweets, and sample or purchase some of the factory’s most popular chocolate delights. Hundreds of different products are offered at this heritage-listed location, including the classic Rocky Road and Licorice Blocks. A rare chance to experience the chocolate manufacturing process from inside a working factory, this site is a popular attraction for both chocolate lovers and history buffs. Wonderful display and array of sweets, shame there wasn't more on the processes involved or on the items on the conveyor belt by way of history or even the products. Staff at the counter were great...

We visited this wonderful place before Christmas 2022 with two of our grandchildren. It has an ice-creamery and coffee area just inside the main entrance. Delicious Golden North ice cream is available and barista made coffee. Even hot chocolate drinks in a variety of fantastic flavours are available. The range of chocolates and sweets is incredible in the main selection area. The old fashioned posters and containers are fascinating. Once the shopping is done, there is a basic playground area for children outside. A real gem found only in the Adelaide Hills!

Always an awesome place to visit. It’s a cute and beautiful location and has the best hot chocolate you have ever tasted. On sundays they have lawn games and a great spot to chill and eat your chocolate/ have a coffee. Every type Of chocolate and lollies you could think of. Highly recommended 😁
-
Really nice place to get your chocolates. A bit far from Hahndorf and Adelaide. Pricing is quite reasonable. Parking readily available outside. There's an outdoor area for kids activities.
-
Great to have local chocolate confectionary around the area. Spoilt for choice and you get ice cream and coffee and of course hot chocolate. Candies - raspberry drops ! and different flavour chocolate from peppermint to caramel to liquorice …. Locals and loads of tourists. But would say it’s a little dear… just tough to resist when you are there and a chocolate lover.
-
Great place to stop and visit. Our favourite is the shot of chocolate with dipping marshmallows $3. It's definitely worth buying an extra bag of marshmallows or having some strawberries ready to go as you always have lots of dipping chocolate left over after. We picked up some great looking white choc chips to make biscuits tomorrow. Also great to see a shop supporting the wildlife and making Easter bilbies whilst donating to a good cause.
