Almsee, English sometimes Lake Alm, is a lake in Upper Austria's part of the Salzkammergut in the Almtal valley, 11 kilometers (6.8 mi) south of the village of Grünau im Almtal. The lake lies in the northern portion of the Totes Gebirge mountains and is about 2.3 kilometers (1.4 mi) by 700 meters (2,300 ft) wide.
The lake drains through the Alm River. Since 1965, the area around the Almsee is under nature conservation. Konrad Lorenz made important observations of the greylag goose at the lake.

    This is one of tje places we take a lot of friends that are visiting us and it never disappoints. Doesn't matter which season, it's always beautiful to walk around and enjoy the great views. I would.....  more

    crystal-clear water, in which the surrounding mountains are reflected. Very few people. Fantastic and picturesque! The water is cool, even in summer on warm days. It is a mountain lake. Easy to get.....  more

    Beautiful alpine scenery in summer and winter. The lake is cool, refreshing even in August. Be mindful of nature and animals and take your trash back home with you!

    Fantastic place. Free parking spaces and wc. Not recommended for stroller. The lake is gorgeous.

    Our another trip in Salzkammergut. First time by this lake. Again, nice and pretty easy walk along the lake. We started on parking 🅿️ Habernau, and walked around, it's almost 11 km, tooked us less than 3hours. In the middle,there is a restaurant, shop etc... highly recommend
