Fortress Hohensalzburg, Salzburg

Absolutely amazing and a romantic experience! The short train ride up to the castle was fun. The views from the top looking down over this romantic little city was breathtaking. Inside the Fortress were highly interesting exhibitions. Great food and friendly staff. Just perfect for couples and families with children. Can't wait to go back.

Seeing a true middle ages castle, along with the lifestyle, customs and ruling of it is truly an amazing experience. The castle features a lot of stuff: from sightseeing at the top of the keep tower, to how peasants were imprisoned in the dungeon and how the castle was built, history around it and a museum. This has been a big dose of history for me, so for any enthusiasts out there looking to learn a bit of history during their trip, i totally recommend this place.

Great place to visit when in Salzburg. You can walk up but we chose to take the funicular railway, which was fun. We bought the €13 basic ticket which was good value. It gives you return trip on the funicular railway as well as entry into most of the small museums. Museums were wonderful lots of interactive exhibits and easy to understand explanations. Great for kids and adults alike. A must visit when in Salzburg.

A great walk (steep) but the views are worth every step! A great calorie burn for fitness enthusiasts! You can also arrive by tram. We bought the inclusive tickets and weren’t disappointed. All displays are clearly and simply spelled out. Worth your time to visit. There is handicap access.

Amazing!! Took the funicular up close to when the fortress opened on a weekday so it wasn't very crowded at all. Got lucky with the weather and the views of the mountains was just incredible! As for the fortress it was a well done museum, interesting buildings with some good info bits around. Spent a few hours here and I'm very glad I did!
