At Church of the Jesuits, admire one of the masterpieces of Baroque illusionistic painting. Built between 1623 and 1627 as a university chapel, the church was remodeled some 80 years later by the Italian Jesuit Brother and artist Andrea Pozzo, whose grave remains inside the crypt. A rather austere exterior stands in contrast with the lavish interior richly decorated with gilding, woodcarvings, allegorical ceiling frescoes, and imitations of marble columns. Pay special attention to the trompe l'oeil fresco on the flat ceiling, which remarkably creates an illusion of a dome. A Sunday mass with a choir and orchestra is worth a second visit. The crypts were fascinating. Only open a few days every month. On sundays their amazing choir performs. We were a day early unfortunately! The church’s ‘dome’ is something to see

My favorite Church in Vienna, and we visited a lot during our trip. The outside is already beautiful, but it's nothing compared to the inside. It was more than stunning, and I loved the atmosphere. Be sure not to miss this incredible Church: put it on your list!

Amazing church. My mouth was open, and my eyes were looking around the whole time. We attended Easter mass, which was beautiful.

This church is not particularly special on the outside, but when you step in, this is WOW!!! So much detail.

This is one of those examples that proves how tourists are cancer to places they visit, especially the overcrowded ones like Vienna and Prague etc Why? Because this Church was empty on a Sunday for 20 minutes while I visited!! It's three minutes from St Stephens Place and no one cares about it while, of course, other sites are so full of tourists you can barely throw a needle in there This is a stunning piece of art with a lavish interior, Baroque decorations, paintings etc

Of all the churches I visited in Vienna, this one I remember the most. The paintings on the ceiling are outstanding and give a great perception of height. Really worth a visit.
