Best known for the Wurstelprater amusement park, Prater is a public park whose history dates back to 1162. The land passed through the hands of noble families for several centuries, until Emperor Joseph II opened the park to the public in 1766. Visit the Krieau, a horseracing track, and see Austria's largest stadium, Ernst Happel Stadium. The main pathway, known as Hauptallee, is closed to vehicles and lined by horse chestnut trees. Take a ride on the park's Ferris wheel or try out bumper cars, carousels, roller coasters, and ghost trains. The amusement park even features a Madame Tussauds wax works cabinet. Put Prater and other Vienna attractions into our Vienna day trip planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • It was fun but it was quite large and you had to pay at each ride seperately. Lots of different rides or machines to play with so that was nice.

  • Great amusement park with a large variety of rides and activities. Not too crowded, waiting queues are small or rather nonexistent. Good option for a date, family day, or some old fashioned adrenaline rush. Ferris wheel is particularly charming during the sunset. It can get a bit windy and cold at the top depending on the season.
  • Very great experience for both, children but also teenagers. We have spent great time there with my girlfriend and will be surely coming back in next months. Parking was good, prices are very affordable and the entry is free. You pay for the attractions. Recommend
  • If you like loud places where a lot is happening Prater is right for you. But even then it is rather expensive, a lot of the rides cost 5 Euro, it adds up fast, especially if you are there with children. Still it's a place with great tradition which is worth visiting at least once.
  • Good place to spend time with family, friends, colleagues, alone. Possible only walk and enjoy or try one of the many many of atractions. Music, smell and laugh are making this funpark even more than place for fun. Even little rainy day, this experience was very nice and valuable 👌
  • It's a great place to spend half a day without getting bored. I didn't think it would be so much fun even for adults to walk around and try different stuff out but it turned out to be a great spent time.
