The capital city's Neo-Gothic city hall, Rathaus, serves as the house of municipal government. Built between the 1872 and 1883 by Friedrich Schmidt, the building resembles a Gothic cathedral. Front and center is the 98 m (321 ft) tall tower with the statue of a medieval knight perched on top. Rathausmann, who has become an icon of Vienna, is inspired by the armor of Emperor Maximilian I. Climb 331 steps to reach the top of city hall's tower and take in the view of Vienna below. Inside, explore the council chamber, festival hall, senate chamber, grand staircase, stone halls, and coat of arms halls. Audio guides are available in English. Just a beautiful building that is worth seeing. I wasn't inside the town hall but even outside it make a very good impression.

An impressive, magnificent building, certainly from the outside, where it’s being cleaned to within an inch of its life. Some parts looked too scrubbed and almost white. We didn’t go in for a tour..... more

Didn't get a chance to enter inside. It is for a guided tour only. In summer they have the film festival outside , if you like a film in the event with food , it might be a good option for you. P.S. this film festival is not like independent films more for documentaries.

The place is truly beautiful and provides free tours that are really interesting and easy to follow. Also, there are free brochures of many different kinds as well as magazines that visitors can just take in order to learn more about Vienna.

A small part is covered for renovation and due to the festival hosted at thecfront. Vienna City Hall is the seat of the local government and a beautiful example of Neo-Gothic architecture, dating back to the late 1800s. Its richly adorned facade is modelled after the famous Brussels Town Hall. If you do not have time for one of the guided tours of the representative rooms, head down to Restaurant Rathauskeller instead. The restaurant consists of several ornately decorated Baroque rooms and is well worth a quick look. City Hall Square is home to one of Vienna’s biggest Christmas markets as well as a ginormous ice skating rink that even includes skating “paths” leading through a small park. Check out Vienna Ice World for more information. This period hosts the Film Festival 2022.

Amazing space. Great gothic architecture. Ballroom is just peace of art. Ceiling looks like painting.

We had our dinner event in the city hall and it was the right choice in Vienna. The place is majestic, with red carpet overall and chandeliers decorating the high ceilings and a lot of history on the white walls. If you are ever invited to such any event in such a place, never say no.
