Appreciate great written works of the Azeri culture at National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature, a lovely three-story building housing over 3,000 manuscripts, rare books, illustrations and miniatures arranged across 40 halls in downtown Baku. Opened in 1939, the museum features an elegant façade with six pointed arches above six sculptures of poets and writers. Each major poet has a hall inside the museum, displaying memories, sculptures, portraits, and other regalia. Outside the museum, a well-kept garden with terraced pools and fountains provides a nice place to rest from the city’s bustle. Named after a 12th-century Persian Sunni poet, Nizami Ganjavi, the museum also has a book shop where you can buy souvenirs. • Not much to see inside but the building is very nice with a park around it and sculptures of various writers under the facades.

  • During my visit, the museum was closed Some statues outside are incredible (that are facing to Nizami Park)
  • Price for locals is 5 manat, for students is 2 manat, for foreigner is 10 manat. All in all,its more about local literature,it can be interesting if you read about it. I liked exposition about poets . Stuff was so nice, they explained me everything, just pity that its prohibited take photo there
  • Well worth going, it was a perfect place!
  • I really like to visit the history museums
  • Even with just a slight interest for literature and poetry, this museum is a must if you visit Baku. The guide manages to paint a good picture of the history of the country from a literary perspective. That combined with the historic building the museum occupies, is well worth the several hours spent.
