Lake Goygol, Goygol

Wow factor... This place is worth visiting. Landscape cant be described in words. Its a national forest and they are taking good care of it. There is an entry ticket which is mkre or less 10 to 15 manat depending on nunber of people visiting. At one point cars will be parked and then you would have to walk down the track to the lake. I also saw old Russain car providing taxi services to the lake. However, I would recommend to walk down the lake since the track itself is amazing, cool and breathtaking. Highly recommended for nature lovers. The only problem you might face is language barrier. Hardly anyone speaks english over there.

Best place got all season to go,rest. Way to Goygol-super easy. You can reach from Ganja or Goygol. I have been few times there, sometimes sitting long for reading. Also there are some short distance walkijng roads. Just for feeling the nature. Tips. If you wanna see magic, go fall season. Ans see best colorful leaves there.

Goygel is a magnificent lake in the western part of Azerbaijan, located on the territory of Goygel region, on the northern slope of the Murovdag ridge, at the foot of the Kapaz mountain, in the gorge of the Akhsu river. It is one of the largest lakes in Azerbaijan. The lake area is 0.78 km²; the length from south to north is 2800 m, the maximum width is 800 m. The average depth is 30 m, and the maximum is 96 m. The lake was formed as a result of a devastating earthquake that occurred near Ganja on September 30, 1139, as a result of which the top of Mount Kapaz collapsed in the gorge of the Akhsu River. The resulting dam is Lake Goygel. However, according to the research of many authors, the lake has a glacial origin. On the territory of the lake there are 423 species of trees and shrubs, as well as medicinal plants. Of these, 76 species are trees and shrubs, the rest form grass cover. On the shores of the lake are found deer, roe deer, bear, wild boar, mountain goat, wolf, fox, jackal, badger, porcupine, wild cat, lynx. Trout is also found in the lake. The lake is located on the territory of the Goygel national park. The park was created in 2008 on the territory of Goygel district. The total area of ​​the park is 12.755 hectares (127.55 sq. Km). The park was created on the basis of the Goygel State Reserve, founded in 1925.
