A green oasis on the arid Absheron Peninsula, Mardakan Arboretum is located at the former country mansion of a Baku oil tycoon. Filled with innumerable plant and tree species, it's a lovely spot for an afternoon stroll. There is a small artificial lake where you can ride small boats, as well as a museum to Russian poet Sergey Yesenin, who stayed here in the 1920s. You can also visit the Gothic-style house once inhabited by the oil baron Murtuza Mukhtarov.     The Arboretum has a large selection of trees and cactus. Hot houses and ponds. I was interested in the Callistemon and Wandoo from Australia. Ponds are green with algae that spoils a little, but tidy....  more

    Great place with saved landscaping, but requires care.

    Nice place to visit with children. Ask for guide (extra fee but cheap). Thousands of trees. The house with amazing garden of Murtuza Mukhtarov where Yesenin was accomodated. It's another interesting story which is part of history. P.S I was there 3 years ago. But lots of memory.

    Not really deserve to spend valuable time but nice to pay a visit only once with friends or family. I liked cactus garden
