Gaze out at the stars at the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory, 22 kilometers north of Shamakhi city centre. Reached via a scenic road leading into the Caucasus Mountains, the observatory is located high up in the settlement of Pirqulu and is the largest in the Caucasus. Named after 13th-century astronomer Nasreddin Tusi, it opened in the 1960s and was put to good use in the Soviet era. It is still operational today, and now it can also be visited. Guests can browse a small museum and take the opportunity to do some after dark stargazing.     Place has small museum and old telescope to show. Guide is very sincere and informative. They also offer service during night when you can observe planets and stars. So they have suites to stay for...

    İf you want to watch planets and stars, you must visit after 00:00 . Or you will just will visit museum. Museum is good, there are some old equipments and good information about galaxies. Overall all good

    Travelled more then 30 kilometer frm the city… they charged 20 manat… but not worth the price … we couldn’t see anything inside…

    Place location is very good. Despite of telescops are a bit old but worst to see. At that time on my visit been able to see SATURN, YUPITER and MOON. Wonderful feeling. Reccomended
