Marvel at the early medieval stonemasonry of the Church of Kish, a monument of the ancient state of Caucasian Albania in Sheki. While the stone church dates back to the 12th century, the site has been used for religious purposes since the Bronze Age. The stunning dome is something to behold, while the church houses a small museum of archeological artifacts found on location, including some ancient pottery, a burial mound with skeletal remains, wall foundations of an ancient 2nd century BCE temple, and a crypt from the 3rd century CE. A bust of Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl, who traced Scandinavians' origins to modern-day Azerbaijan, stands opposite the church. The oldest church of it's type in the Caucasus is set in lovely garden with the mountains behind. There is a lot of information on display but a guide could offer a lot more insight,

Beautiful historical area & museum inside ! Entry fees for tourists who are Foreigners the charges will be 8manat ( around 5 dollars). Kish is beautiful region in Sheiki! One of the touristic place to go - you need to take a Lada or four wheeler to go upto to church through the cobbled road. You can bargain! Don’t pay the drivers more that 2$. It’s only 5 mins ( by car) and 10 mins walk to this church! We went on a snow day ! It was -2 and pretty good !

Staff at the site spoke great English and were quite welcoming and excited to share the history of the place.
-
Very well preserved church! Nothing much to see inside, a few very old staff found around the Area and burials of 3b.c. Outside. Worth a trip...not really you need maximum 15 minutes to visit the place. Highly recommend to hike the Fortress and on the way back visit the place and the up part of the village which is still isolated
