maybe highest mountain near Baku city. It is just 1000 meters above the see but you should hike for 2-3 hours to reach the summit. The summit surrounded with woods and an ancient castle placed on the top of the mountain.

I did that hike many times. Trail is kind a marked, difficult to lost your way. View from the historical castle is spectacular if you will be lucky with a clear sky! But,each time I do the hike, renovation works are getting massive and massive. I am not sure if that renovation will keep the castle's historical integrity or it would be in a way like it was built, "yesterday" ! It seems that there is a high probability of a castle being "protected" and visitors will be charged in a near future,which would not be pleasant!

Amazing view, with mountains and steppe plains over the sea. Watch out for the orad though. Our car couldn't make it and we had to walk 2km to the fortress. Lada Niva does the trick. Totally worth it anyway.

The castle is in a really good place. But it was closed due to renovation. Dont know till when its gonna be.
