La Boverie is a museum in the city of Liège in Belgium. It opened in May 2016. It is housed in the former Palais des beaux-arts de Liège, built in the Parc de la Boverie for the Liège International in 1905. The building previously housed the prints and drawings collections (1952-1980) of the city's Musée des Beaux-Arts and the Walloon art collections of the city's Académie royale des beaux-arts (1970s-1980), before becoming the Musée d'art moderne (later known as the Musée d'art moderne et d'art contemporain or MMAC) from 1980 to 2011. MMAC was merged with the prints, drawings and Walloon collections in 2011 to form a new single collection known as the 'musée des Beaux-Arts'.

A part of the building is now under construction.

  • Great rainy day or sunny day activity! The permanent and rotating exhibitions are not so overwhelming that you cannot do them both in a couple of hours. The prices are very reasonable and the staff...

  • I didn't pick the best day as there was a strike affecting government employees - as a result only part of the museum was open, but it was really excellent. The building is a mix of the original...

  • A disappointing trip. Came to Liege from Bruxelles just for the museum. The staff does not even say hi, they don’t provide maps, poor exhibition, bad taste of art, terrible coffee, rude sfaff…

  • The collection is not that big, but does have some beautiful masterpieces from different times periods and different countries. Would recommend to visit if you are in Liege and like art.
  • Good museum at the heart of a beautiful park. Lots of trees to shelter from the sun or rain as you walk down to the museum. A few masters in their collection.
  • Very good permanent collection and we were lucky to catch the Rothschild temporary exhibition.
  • The rich collection of this museum takes its place in a beautiful building of 1905、created for the world's fair in Liège that attracted 7.000.000 visitors. The collection is fairly impressive and includes artworks of the greatest masters. The temporary exhibitions are always very well made、which is not surprising as Le Louvre is generally involved. The museum boutique and restaurant (nice specialty of bagels) are interesting. A very nice place that you must see if you are in Liege.
  • Do no hesitate ! It is such a nice place, everything there looks good, smells good, tastes good 😉 We went there and didn't even do the museum. You will enjoy a nice view on the park around.
