Create an itinerary including Farol do Morro
Farol do Morro, or “Lighthouse Hill,” is the a personal paradise created by Antonio and Rosita Couto. So stunned by the view and the location, the couple decided to share their newfound paradise with other travelers opening a hotel on the magical site in 1986. Nowadays, guests of the hotel and visitors frequent the restaurant for the pristine views accessible from one of the busiest walking streets in Morro de São Paulo. Arrive in the afternoon, before the dinner rush, to grab a table overlooking the water. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, Morro de Sao Paulo holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Farol do Morro and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • I hiked up late in the afternoon to watch the sunset, as recommended. It's a very steep hike with a lot of steps, and of course fire hot in the summer. There were people letting their dogs run...

  • Highly recommend walk up to the Morro it self, you’ll get to see island from both sides. Good to watch sun go down and to some climbing with kids.

  • It's a short but steep walk through the very humid and hot forest up to the lighthouse. It's worth it but make sure to drink lots of water. The view is wonderful and if you dare you can descend...

  • A stunning landscape, An unique sunset.
  • Good vibe!!!
  • After the lighthouse, you can take the lookout trail. The place had a local artist playing music and there is a cocktail kiosk with excellent service. The view from there is wonderful! The site needs maintenance as some of the lookout guardrail boards were loose and needs signage.
  • Morro de São Paulo hides a few more surprises besides the enchanting beaches — the sunset. Here it is possible to watch this daily show from different angles and different places. A totally free option to watch the sunset in Morro de São Paulo is the Mirante do Farol. To get to the Mirante you will follow the same path as the Toca do Morcego, but you will need to go up a little further. The deck of Mirante do Farol was installed on a large rocky surface and there you can sit and enjoy the sunset. #exploremorro #bahia #cairu #morrodesaopaulo Was this information helpful to you? • Excellent choice to enjoy a late afternoon sunset. To access the site, it is necessary to walk for 10 minutes through relatively steep stairs, which require a little effort. The place is easy to find, where there are signposts pointing the way. The lookout is not that big, but it holds a good amount of people and it is possible to take great pictures from there. I highly recommend the visit.
