Built to protect the city from possible foreign invaders, the site now serves as a local museum and a major tourist attraction. Also included on the site is the Marco de Touros, a marker stone placed there by the early Portuguese settlers. • Really liked this fort. I've seen a few now in Brazil and this is in good condition and worth the walk. Great on a sunny day with the tide out.

  • Well, I went there to see the fortress and to be honest it was not what I expected. The forte is very old and has old cannons on the top and the view was great. I am not into old things and history...

  • Great view, safe and pleasant construction. There was no selling point for water and food, so take some. Also be aware that it closes at 4pm in localtime

  • Note! My photos are older, before renovation took place! Great historical place, currently renovated which has given the whole building a new life! A great place to take photos, with a wonderful beach next to it and natural pools. A wonderful piece of history! Daytime sightseeing is recommended as the site is away from everything. Cultural heritage site!
  • Beautiful place, an oportunity to comeback to the past and feel the magic of this fort!!
  • It’s a nice historical place to visit. The panoramic view is amazing.
  • The very best pizza of Natal! Incredibly friendly servers. Great toppings and crust! 👏👏👏🍕
  • Unfortunately the place was closed but there was no information about it. Only a sign said that it would open in December 2018. Also our driver told us to be careful as there are hobos around. It is a nice place, but we were very disappointed as it took us two extra rides to get there and then the gates were closed.
