Corcovado - Christ the Redeemer
An elegant 38-meter (125 ft) Art Deco statue constructed in 1931, Corcovado - Christ the Redeemer was once only accessible by climbing hundreds of steep steps to the top of the Corcovado Mountain. Today, visitors can access this instantly recognizable city symbol by using the convenient escalators and elevators. The viewing platform from the top offers panoramic views of Copacabana, Ipanema, Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, Botanical Garden, and the Maracana Stadium. Check the weather before starting your climb to the top, as thick clouds often envelop the peak and obscure the view. You can also reach the top on the funicular train, but remember that the lines can get rather long here. Try to time your visit for lunchtime, when there are fewer crowds and considerably shorter lines. Put Corcovado - Christ the Redeemer on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Rio de Janeiro trip maker website.

Once again Rio did not fail to amaze me on this experience. What breathtaking views of all of Rio from the top! Also Christ the Redeemer is so big and pictures do it absolutely no justice. I am glad we went at 0900 am because it was not very crowded and we got up to the top extremely quick. Also the weather was in the 60’s so it was perfect. Enjoy the views, take as many photos as you can.

A must... breathtaking. I recommend going as part of a tour, if you're not from Rio. There's definitely a process, a series of queues to get up there. There are several gift shops and views above the clouds. There are lots of people up there, and monkeys 😊

It does have a historical significance. There is absolutely no doubt about it. Your presence around the tower will definitely bring you back in time and will make you appreciate the depth of history it contains. But in terms of structure, its just another old building. I might be wrong but there's not a lot of recreation around this place. Just a park, like any other. No offence intended though.

Such an unique place! One of the top views of Rio de Janeiro. Unfortunately too crowded even after the pandemic. Don’t want to know how full it was before Covid-19 🙈 So no place to have a quiet minute to pause for a moment or to pray. Definitely a must-see on a perfect weather day ☀️

IT'S CHRIST THE REDEEMER...NEED I SAY I MORE!? if you're in Rio you gotta do it. HIGHLY recommend hiking up. it's challenging but definitely do able. much safer than it used to be. there's a security guard at the bottom of the trail who gets your info and gives you the spiel just in case you need help. there are monkeys on the trail who are super cute and are kind of like homies in the jungle to cheer you on as you make your way up. train down back into town isn't too pricey and definitely worth it. pro tip: hike this bad boy and then get ice cream at the top. makes it that much better 🙏
