Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens
Take things down a gear during a relaxing stroll through Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens. Established in 1986 in a scenic position overlooking a tidal river valley, the gardens explore Nova Scotia's natural heritage, as well as the changing ways that communities have tamed, used, and appreciated the plant life native to the region. Walk through the historically themed gardens, such as an apple orchard arranged according to 18th-century practices; a Victorian garden bright with colorful annuals; and a large pine forest, representing pre-Columbian times when the area was inhabited by the Mi'kmaq. Make Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens a centerpiece of your Annapolis Royal vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Annapolis Royal trip planner.

The flowers were really nice. Although it is the end of the season, we enjoyed walking the grounds and seeing the last of summer flowers. Beautiful marsh/ocean views.

We rambled through the gardens for a couple of hours. So many different types of gardens and well laid out. Lots of benches too to sit and talk and enjoy the view.

Who would have thought that the gardens could be so lovely on a sunny late November day but they were. A lovely walk about. Amazing, huge old trees so majestic without their leaves. We must return in spring/summer. But we still completely in joyed our walk this time. The store was open and the staff were friendly and helpful. Truly a garden for all seasons. Bring cash for a donation to enter. Walking is easy and mostly level and gravel. 🥰💚🌳💚🥰

Absolutely stunning. Most plants were labeled, which added to the experience in being able to take in, enjoy, and remember the sights. The artistic birdwatching exhibit was a nice surpise, and we bought a ceramic bird and some flower seeds from the adorable gift shop to commemorate our visit. I could have easily spent the day here enjoying the gardens, but we were just passing through as tourists! Definitely worth seeing!

This is a beautiful location to walk every season of the year. The gardens are stunning and so well looked after. The little shop is perfect for Christmas presents carrying lots of local products. Must see.

17 acres of splendid! We decided last minute to take a stroll through the gardens and so glad we did! It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon. The gardens are amazing!!
-
Beautiful place! Definitely a must see. We arrived about 2 hours before high tide and were able to see a drastic difference in the dyke walk viewing area between when we arrived and by the time we left the gardens. That and the lily ponds were my favorite parts :)
