# 2 Mine Tour and Museum
Take # 2 Mine Tour and Museum to discover stories of diligent miners from the early 1900s. Notice old shovels, bottles, and wheels of carts sitting against the rock walls as you walk through the labyrinth of damp, dark tunnels where boys as young as nine risked their lives digging iron ore by candle light. The last of the six mines on the island was closed in 1966, and many of the tunnels are now flooded. Wear sturdy shoes and a jacket. Plan your visit to # 2 Mine Tour and Museum and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Bell Island trip planner.

The Museum alone can keep you occupied for hours; the history of the isle is truly fascinating to look back on through well-preserved artifacts. The staff are VERY knowledgeable and hold no secrets...

If you are going to Bell Island, GO ON THIS TOUR. Truly an incredible, humbling experience. It blew my mind to see the conditions that these men used to work in. Our tour guide Geraldine had a personal connection with the mine, and shared a touching story about her dad. When we walked in, my fiancée saw a picture of her great grandfather on the wall. Beautiful place, worth every penny.

Very informative and interesting tour when visiting Bell Island. Our guide, Brian, was very knowledgeable and shared his family's rich mining history in colorful detail. The tour is well-paced and easily accessed with a walking path approximately 650' underground. The tour clearly provides artifacts and examples of the harsh and brutal conditions experienced by those working in the mine. An excellent tour. 5 stars.

Absolutely loved it. We did this tour 15+ years ago and they have certainly made it better and more interactive since then. Our guide Geraldine was very friendly and made the experience excellent. Highly recommended 👌

This was amazing, the tour director was very informative. You really feel how it was once you are down in the mine. Highly recommend visiting.

My grandfather worked in this mine and I was very interested in hearing it's history. Not sure what our tour guides name was but he was awesome. He was from Bell Island and told many stories of his family working in the mines there as well.
