Hi everyone to give donations make the check or money order out to The Town of Bonavista Save the Matthew campaign and state if you need a receipt, This Beautiful will not survive with out the help of the Canadian people right across this Beautiful Country remember we are also Canadians and need your support . This ship is who we are were we came from and how we got here. John Cabot crossed from Bristol England in 1497 and discovered this great land, and the settlers who came after Cabot wanted to settle in that new land , some stayed here in NL others moved in land to greater Canada and that is how this country began. If we allow that ship to rot then we are destroying part of who we are &will lose our Heritage and our sense of pride, So I am calling on all Canadians including our big Corporate Company's to open your hearts and pocket book's and help us save the Beautiful Ship The Matthew, We have to Raise between $200,000.00 & $300,000.00 for our 20% then we will ask both the Government of NL and Canada to join the team , and I ashore all of you the money we will seek from those Governments will not be funding that is used for health care or roads it is another pot of money, and if that ship was any were except NL we would not have to be out their seeking help. As a volunteer Mayor I feel every Canadian any were has a link to that ship and i am asking them to please become part of the team and help me save that ship, and I call on God to shower Blessings on those who be come part of my team. You can Contact me by calling one of those numbers 1-709-468-7355/468-7747/ or email me at iefitzgerald@hotmail.com and make a donation. I will give you the information on were to send your donations. Looking forward to having a large group join me on saving the Matthew.Put Matthew Legacy on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Bonavista day trip planner.
Mayor Betty.

That Historic ship was interesting to visit, to see from close the construction, the various sailboat details and actual leaving space for the captain and crew

A nice museum. Not large. Very informativeTje guides will give you a brief explanation then you view the signs and exhibits. The last part of the museum you go aboard the MATTHEW and you have full access. Give yourself 60 to 90 min to do everything.
