Admire the deep emerald green lagoons that serve as centerpiece of Bowness Park. The park dates back to pre-World War I, originally designed with a swimming pool and carousel. Today visitors use it for paddleboating, canoeing, kayaking, skating, and picnicking. You'll find ample opportunity for playing on playgrounds, sitting under shade trees, barbecuing, and sampling tea from the on-site tea house. You can cool off at the splash pad, try your hand at a round of mini golf, or tour around on the miniature train. Restrooms are available on site. Centrally located, this park is a great gateway for families. Lots and lots and lots of space and spots for picnic and own tents. The park has a boat and train rides for a cost. Lots of parking space but still it gets full quickly. Come early and get your spot.

Great place to skate during the winter and get your festive feeling on. They play music out of the centre portion which is very wholesome. During the spring and summer months it’s great to walk, skate and bike through. They have a swimming pool on the east end of the park and canoes you can rent for the day.

Insanely busy area! Good luck finding parking. This park offers two playgrounds, multiple picnic tables, an outdoor pool, a mini train experience, and more. A nice view of the Bowness River but it looked a little low as we saw people walking in the middle of the river.

In winter the ice is often very poor, and should be shut down for safety. Slushy, crumbly ice is not great on blades. And a small spot at the end would be great for pond hockey!! People bring their dogs and bad homemade stabilizers, not sure why hockey sticks are an issue?? But in summer the lagoon is great! A good paddle for those early morning or evening quiet times. It would be nice to have a separate swim spot- not near the dock where people launch boats and boards.. Dodging swimmers is not always ideal.. Don’t try to get parking after 11am. Its a hot mess, and no longer has an overfill lot. And you will get a ticket if you street park..

This is another marvelous park. There are so many great parks in Calgary. There is a kiddie wading pool, a mini train for kids to ride, tons of picnic sites with bbq/fire pits, a lagoon, and a small kiosk with drinks/ice cream (by the kiddie pool). The park has lots of trees and there is an open field to relax/play in. And of course it's right on the beautiful Bow River. It's only about a 45 min bike ride from downtown to Bowness Park, so its a great destination if you happen to be in the area.
