Create an itinerary including Grassi Lakes
Take a scenic hike to Grassi Lakes, nestled in the cliffs of the southern Canadian Rockies. The two lakes are named after an Italian immigrant, Lawrence Grassi, a notable climbing guide in the area who built the trail that leads to the lakes. Choose between two trails, a gentler one with a gravel road to the lake or a more difficult trek that passes a picturesque waterfull before ascending to the lake. When you reach the lakes, you can take in the panoramic view of the city below, try rock climbing on the surrounding cliffs, or have a picnic by the water. • Easy and moderate hiking options available and you can take whichever you prefer. The lake is so beautiful and rewarding. However it’s closed for construction in year 2022 till further update.

  • Great hike, family friendly, medium difficulty, amazing views, but get there early as the parking lot fills up.

  • I stopped here in July for an easy day hike, however I took the moderate way up, then the easy way down. I heard good things about Grassi Lakes and there is a very easy hike to get to and from...

  • Beautiful hike and the lake is beautiful.when you hike up there you will see spectacular view of other mountains
  • My family and I have done this hike a few times now. At the beginning there is two pathways a easy and hard. We take the hard, it's really not that bad. Be prepared for a very busy trail and parking.
  • Very nice hiking spot. We go here almost every year. We prefer to go at autumn because of the colour of the leaves. Surrounding views are so beautiful especially when you reach the top.
  • Gorgeous hike! Once you reach the trailhead, you walk for a min and see a fork. Choose the easy route. The easy route is a gradual uphill hike as compared to the difficult hike. We took the easy route with our kids aged 5 to 13. Hike took us 2 hrs in total; 3.6km round-trip. If hiking with kids, pack some snack, take breaks and enjoy the views. Try going on a sunny day to see the full splendor of the lake. Closest flush toilets are at the Canmore Nordic Centre.
  • Beautiful little lakes. Very blue. The easy trail is just a normal path. The "hard" trail is more fun with nicer views. Takes only 20/25 min to get up there. Nice to see and doesn't take much time.
