Lafarge Lake is a five-hectare man-made lake, located in Town Centre Park in central Coquitlam, British Columbia. The Evergreen Cultural Centre lies on the southwest corner of the lake, and the Water's Edge Festival is held on the lake shore for 25 continuous hours in March.
The area was originally a quarry, but in the 1970s the land was transferred to the city of Coquitlam, and a successful reclamation project ensued.
The lake is home to many species of waterfowl, as well as beavers, common carp, brown bullhead, bluegill, and is stocked with rainbow trout in the spring and fall.

  • Of course the lights during the Christmas holiday season are amazing but the lake is great to visit all year long. Easy parking. Nice paved paths for much of it.

  • My family went here to enjoy the amazing Christmas light display. It took my family around 30 minutes to visit most of the light displays. There are various light fixtures staked into the ground and there are also trees decorated with lights. When we went, a portion of the lake's walkway was blocked off because of the slippery ice. There is free parking, but the space is limited. There were lots of people even after 8:00PM. If you are looking to shoot some photos with your family, I recommend the short arch ways with white lights. You can see them when you enter the lake from the parking lot. You can have your friends and family stand under one of the arches, making sure the view of other archways that curve around the lake is unobstructed in the background. Also, if you are visiting with a small group of people, you should consider going to the two long archways with connecting colorful blue, green, and purple lights. You take some beautiful photos standing underneath the shelter of such beautiful lights.
  • Wonderful Christmas Lights!! Beautiful walk around the lake. Takes about 30min. Parking is limited but cars move quickly. Dress warm, lots of families, keep pets on leash and pick up excrement. No food or drinks available.
  • Beautiful Christmas light display around the lake and their garden area. A few new light displays this year. Hot chocolate and mini donut stands open. Great free outdoor activity. Plenty of picnic benches for sitting. Lots of free parking. The ducks were active in the lake tonight. Great place to come on your own, with friends, for a romantic stroll, or with family.
  • A very pretty display of Christmas lights , walk with coffee during season for free. I was able to spend quality time with my friends just chatting and walking through . I tried their gingerbread latte with oat milk it was really yummy to try. I absolutely love this place.
  • My two friends and I and the kids came for a fishing derby today at Lafarge lake. There was a draw with prizes and free lunch. The lake/park it is top notch huge fountain right in the middle of the lake, paved walkway all the way around. There is a boardwalk and fishing peir to the right side. On the other side of the lake there are curved concrete bleachers and a stage for events. All around that is new landscaping they have put in pathways and new gardens, new grass looks really nice. There was volley ball nets aswell. Awsome view walking around and in the winter this whole park is Is heavily decorated with Christmas lights and decorations. Paid parking at skytrain parking lot, it's free at the collage.
