Scores of bird-watchers head to George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary every year to observe the diverse, abundant avian life. Peregrine falcons, Siberian swans, bald eagles, blue herons, and over 260 other species inhabit the sanctuary, which provides ample opportunity to see these birds in the wild. Find out when the snow geese migration takes place to witness the wondrous sight of 80,000 geese descending upon the sanctuary before their long journey to Siberia. Wooden hides, an observation tower, and 3 km (1.8 mi) of winding trails all offer excellent vantage points for observing birds. Make George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary part of your personalized Delta itinerary using our Delta trip builder tool.

Great place, but we found out the hard way that you now require a reservation (advertised on their website, but nowhere else, such as Google Maps). Would have been good to know this before driving...

Great place for the whole family. I would recommend to book the earlier time slots of entry to stay cool and away from the heat. Unfortunately the chickadees were not in town right now but they will be later. Don't hesitate to go when they are and are not there. It's fun for the whole family. Make sure you buy a couple of bags of seeds. It goes fast. There are multiple spots to feed the birds so don't go nuts right away. The chickadees eat different seeds compared to the other birds so make sure you buy those too when they are here.

Wonderful weather today. We came a little late @2pm and did roughly a 2hr round with the kids. We went out beyond the Southwest Marsh towards the Ocean Marshes and saw the snow geese migrating. It was an amazing feeling standing beneath the thousands of geese flying overhead! Elsewhere, lots of little birds, though need to slowly observe. Saw the black-capped chickadee.

Easily spent 3 hours here and wanted to spend more but forgot to bring food as I foolishly assumed I'd be bored after an hour. Very peaceful trails once you get past the main entrance. Went on a sunny Saturday and it was busy but not terribly so. Will definitely be coming back again to visit in the future!

We enjoyed the birds. Some will eat food from your hands. Bags of see for ducks and chickadees are sold at the store. The birds will follow you and come your way once they see you have seed for them. Great day!

It's a really nice place, lots of birds. The only problem is the speed bumps on the entry. It's insane high. You will need a SUV to pass through without scraping the floor of your car. Do not even think about coming here with a sportive car.
