Create an itinerary including Tangle Creek Falls
Take a quick stop on the Ice Fields Parkway at Tangle Creek Falls to stretch your legs and snap a few photos of this delicate, multi-tiered cascade coming down a big cliff face. You can enjoy the beauty of the waterfall from the road or make the extra effort and climb one of the several short, unmarked paths to the top of the falls. Keep an eye out for bighorn sheep grazing on a ledge just above the road. The falls are easily accessible, but also easy to miss, so drive slowly to spot a small turnout north of the Glacier Skywalk that leads to the falls. Amenities include a parking lot on the other side of the road and washrooms. Choose to start, finish, or center your holiday on a trip to Tangle Creek Falls by using our Jasper National Park driving holiday planner.

  • Made a brief stop here on 13 June 2022 with my family. The fall is just next to narrow Highway 93 and the river goes underneath the road to the other side. Wish I had time to climb to the top. The climb looks gentle. Two car parks. One directly opposite with a toilet.
  • An amazing little waterfall that you can go very close up to. If you are careful you can get some really nice pictures with these falls if you're very careful when climbing some of the slippery rocks. You can also just stand towards the bottom of the waterfall and get about 1 to 2 m close to it stepping on the stones.
  • Another nice stop along the Icefields Parkway! This was our last stop headed north before turning around back towards Banff. Plenty of parking at the pullout. The falls are two-tiered and there are plenty of routes to climb up them! Beautiful & accessible.
  • This is a beautiful waterfall literally next to the road around the Icefields Parkway in Alberta, Canada. While often crowded, you'll still get great views (and photo opportunities), as this is virtually directly on the road. There is a parking lot across the road.
  • Small, multi-stage waterfalls right beside the Icefields Parkway. You can get close to the lower and middle falls by climbing the left or right side, although the left side (which we climbed) seems a bit more challenging.
