  • Beautiful drive from Longview to the Trans-Canada highway. Mid-afternoon and we encountered a group of Rams(male) 'BIGHORN SHEEP', and then a kilometer or less futher down the road a group of females. There were a few more groups of females a few kilometer apart. We also seen a grizzly in the ditch on the west side of the highway but didn't stop to get photos...
  • Rode the bike with my favourite through this amazing stretch of beauty. Last weekend before it opened up for the summer and what a day! A must try. Will be back to go the full distance.
  • This is the highest paved road in Canada and is only open after June 15th until December 1st (I believe). It makes for a beautiful motorcycle ride with lots of areas to stop and take pictures. If you start from the north side, you can go through the pass and do the cowboy trail for a great day.
  • I'd have to say this has got to be the highest paved mountain pass I've seen in Canada 👍😁
  • Highwood Pass is the highest paved pass in Canada accesible from the small town of Longview, Alberta. This little town have some shops and restaurants as well as two gas stations and an information booth that will provide you with the maps to do this beautiful day road trip. Bring water, bear spray, lunch and wear appropriate hiking shoes to explore and go for a hike in the multiple trails along the way. You reach alpine area at the level of the pass so wear layers to be prepare to weather changes. the route connects to highway 1 to loop back to Calgary area. Be aware highway 40 through the pass is open seasonally and respect nature and wild life. Take only picture and leave only foot prints.
