Craft Store

Our craft store offers a variety of supplies for sale to our local artisans. We are likely one of the only local suppliers of raw leather, rawhide, and beading supplies in the area. Further to the artisan supplies, we offer for sale local artwork, leatherwork, regalia, First Nations music and video, beading (barrettes’/purses/pouches etc.), and a variety of other Anishanabe crafts. The craft store also features a “Museum Section” that houses a number of artifacts on display for the enjoyment of all our patrons.

Trapping

As part of our ongoing efforts to revive traditional and/or develop contemporary cultural skills of our First Nation people, we participate as agents for “North American Fur Auctions”. We are able to provide a number of services to the local trappers. Trappers are able to receive market information, and drop off their fur for shipping to the auction house. We offer assistance to the trappers in the form of training resources, contacts for purchasing the tools of the trade (traps etc.).

Resource Centre

Our resource centre helps us to maintain and provide knowledgeable information in a variety of media forms for use by the Treaty #3 members and the general public. Our newly updated library of books and videos is open to the general public. We have added hundreds of books and videos for First Nations studies. We provide a selection of teaching curriculum resources available for rental or purchase. We worked with a number of suppliers as well as one of our “Sister” cultural centres in rebuilding the library. A good number of the new books have been acquired through used book stores to help maximize our cost effectiveness. This library is a valuable resource in our efforts to increase access to new and more accurate information about First Nations and Inuit heritage.

Meeting Space

The Lake of the Woods Ojibway Cultural has a meeting space available for workshops, conferences etc. that easily seats 12 people comfortably. Audio and video services are a available. Call us for more information.

  • First class tourist information centre. Large parking lot, easy to find and a great location along the lakefront of Lake of the Woods. Located in the inside of the building is a fantastic display of outboard motors dating from the past.
  • Beautiful building lots of information and great view of the lake, it's Prime real estate with nice chairs sitting outside and a walk to the water. The staff request to let us know that overnight stops a self-contained RVs are not welcome in the town of Kenora due to town bylaws.
  • Very nice. Friendly gal chatted with us and gave us a map of Ontario. The antique boat motor display was very interesting.
  • Small anf nice place. Staffs are kind and helpful . Good place to take short break before visiting in. Lot of tourist information available inside
  • Interesting stop for a bit. They have some different things in here. I think there would also be some interesting things for young children.
