Roam the stalls of Jean-Talon Market, a farmers market in the Little Italy district of Quebec's largest city. Named after Jean Talon, the first intendant of New France, the market opened in 1933 and has since become a focal point of the neighborhood. Wander the rows of open air-stalls filled with colorful fruits, vegetables, fresh meat, and seafood. Sample local snacks or baked goods, visit gourmet stores for some artisan cheeses and wine, or get a hot cup of coffee to sample as you explore. • It is a short walk from the Metro. Lots of great food and treats. Just meander through and enjoy the displays. We went on a Monday afternoon and it was not crowded.

  • I visited on 3/22/23. Amazing and wonderful market full of fresh produce, meats, flowers, honey, maple syrup, patisserie items. I loved it. I would love to come back and see it in the Summer when numerous more vendors will be outside too. None outside when I visited due to the cold weather. I did get a mini maple pie - it was to die for!!!! Please don’t miss it. This market is definitely a must do when in Montreal. If I lived there I would probably go every day!
  • A fantastic local market with great produce and lot of variety. A fun place to hang around for couple of hours to see the local vegetables and meat. Also a great place to shop for souvenirs. I liked the variety of lavender flowers and oils. Easily accessible by train.
  • What a beautiful market. It has something for everyone and I find it BOOMING every day and every season, regardless of how terrible the weather is outside. It's filled with everything fresh, beautiful and unique at times. Definitely love going there whenever I can. Best place for gardening season preparation and we find the quality plants.
  • They have vegetables, fruits, pies, souvenirs (maple syrup, maple butter, …) There are cafés and ice cream/sorbet stores, as well as seafood stalls. You can also buy beauty products, outfits and accessories. The atmosphere in the market was also very nice. Prices are very reasonable. Vendors are also quite nice, they would take the time to actually explain to you what the differences of their products are and how they were made. We bought ice cream (the guy was very generous with that one scoop of ice cream) and maple syrup.
  • Big market and has pretty much everything needed. Fresh fruits and vegetables. Meat. Fish. Flowers and so on. Prices are fairly reasonable as most of the things come from farm directly. However impossible to find parking. A lot of people inside! Food and snacks are very expensive! Wanted to buy tacos and it costs 10$ for 2 small tacos. Not worth it. Overall great location to visit as a tourist or to buy fresh fruits and veggies.
