Create an itinerary including Cape Forchu Lighthouse
Head to the edge of the rocky headland and climb to the top of Cape Forchu Lighthouse, a lighthouse operational since 1840 surrounded by untouched, natural landscape. The tower features an "apple core" design, painted in white and red. A museum operates in the lightkeeper's house, exhibiting an array of photos and memorabilia. Pop into the tourist shop where you can buy handmade items such as small handcrafted buoys, glass ornaments, and beach glass items. You can also walk around the park that surrounds the lighthouse, which features paths, picnic sites, and views of the coast and open water. • The lighthouse is lovely and the landscape is magnificent offering beautiful vistas of the sunset and out over the ocean. We picked up a car in Yarmouth and took off on a driving tour of the area...

  • Beautiful light house surrounded by walking trails and neat things to see. They have informational plaques all over the point and many great photo opportunities. You can book a tour to climb to the top of the light house and look out, and there is a self guided museum! We loved the gift shop, also. Many unique things created by local artisans. A must see!
  • If you love lighthouses, make sure you stop at Cape Forchu Lighthouse. The views are spectacular and you can even climb to the top of the lighthouse! You need to make an appointment beforehand, which we didn't do (had O known I definitely would have!) The grounds around the lighthouse are beautiful and easy to walk around with gravel pathways. There's even a whale skeleton you can see at the base of the tower. They have a nice gift shop that sells local arts and crafts including carvings of Nova Scotia from driftwood. And there's a parking lot that makes it easy to visit. It's the pride of Yarmouth and I can definitely see why. A must visit for sure!
  • This is really a beautiful setting to visit. When we visited there was a thin fog... highlighting the original need for the lighthouse. The gift shop was as these things always are a little overpriced but the location, the setting and the grandeur were worth the visit. The few staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit.
  • Absolutely love this place. Nice circular trail to walk around with my little guy, great views and a perfect spot to watch a sunset, I've been going here almost every other weekend just for the view
  • Beautiful place to visit ! And the cafe is great. Affordable and SO FREAKING GOOD (get the scones. Trust me. Just do it.) I honestly like it better than Peggy’s cove (sorrynotsorry) there’s more to do and I find it more fun and more beautiful. There’s a few hiking trails, you can go up in the lighthouse (no willam dafoe or lobsters unfortunately) and visit around the area. Plus there’s a little hut down the road with a bunch of buoys, and makes for a good insta spot 👀 10/10 recommend to check it out !
