Chilean National Museum of Fine Arts
Appreciate exquisite paintings in a spectacular setting at Chilean National Museum of Fine Arts, the oldest institution of its kind in South America. Established in 1880, the museum moved to its current location, the Palace of Fine Arts, in 1910. Admire the ornate architecture of the colonial-style building as you move through the collection, which houses pieces by renowned Chilean artists like Luis Vargas Rosas and Roberto Matta. You might expect more pieces to fill the large building, which can seem somewhat empty. Despite this, the free museum undoubtedly warrants a visit. We visited many museums in our life, I was expecting the National Museum to be of par. We saw everything that was available to see, spent appreciate time at each one. And after 40 minutes we were out.

The building itself is an amazing work of art, and its free to enter! The first have is where the fine art is located, but unfortunately when I was there it was mostly being worked on. The second half is filled full of contemporary art, which i do not care for. But there was an exhibit full of back pen drawings of a more eerie nature that was quite interesting. I can imagine it will be great while there done working on it, but at the moment it is more of a modern art museum than a fine one.

A very nice building to see with some fine architecture, unfortunately vandals have ruined the walls with graffiti. The collection is alright, but it could have been more. Many places were not filled with art or pieces. Nevertheless worth to take a look at. No entrance fee.

The sculptures were transcendent. I went though in about an hour enjoying the traditional and modern pieces displayed. The building itself was a work of art.
-
A lot of well organized exhibitions in the halls make a conjunction of Modern and Classic Art. The explanations of the pieces could be a bit better, is hard to grasp the focus of the pieces, but overall. Very interesting, always.

It's free...... some historical stuff ( 88 vote) and some abstract as well. Great building
