Create an itinerary including La Chascona
A former home away from home for the famous Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, La Chascona now serves as a museum dedicated to the artist's life and career. Even today, you can see Neruda's left-field tastes in the design of the house. The living room, made to feel like a lighthouse, and the dining room, designed like a ship's cabin, pays homage to the great poet's love of the sea. Look for the two-faced portrait of Matilde Urrutia, Neruda's fiery redheaded lover. Inspect it closely to see the hidden image of Neruda's face whispering into his forbidden lover's ear. Reserve your tickets at least a day in advance to avoid disappointment. PutLa Chascona into our Santiago trip itinerary builder and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • Informative presentation about Neruda. The house gives you a glimpse into his personality and thought. Good audio guide. Nice area around it also to walk around.

  • A very nice house and an interesting story about this great poet. I think the audio guide is too long for most of the rooms and they should make it possible to sit in the garden so we would get a better Feeling of the place.
  • Excellent place to visit if you are in Santiago. If you are a tourist or living there is simply a great example and representative of Neruda's work, lifestyle and life. The audio guide is well explained and let you go through the museum without getting lost. The visit ends in the gift shop full of books and different interesting things to just see or buy.
  • 7000 pesos and no photos or videos allowed inside... however, there is an audio guide available in varios languages
  • A lit bit expensive and you can't take pics there, but you can try
  • Had a great tour with the help of audio description that was available in English and Spanish. Interesting to find out about Pablo Neruda and his wife Mathilde through this fine house.
