Enjoy panoramic views of Santiago at San Cristóbal Hill. The hill rises 300 m (984 ft) above the city, and its slopes form the city's largest park. Wander the shady, green paths, take a stroll through the Japanese garden, see the animals in the zoo, or take a cooling dip in one of two municipal pools. At the summit look for a sanctuary dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, which includes an amphitheater for holding religious ceremonies and a 22 m (72 ft) statue of the Virgin Mary. Pickpockets and thieves sometimes operate in the park, especially during business hours when tourists make up the majority of visitors. Our Santiago trip planner makes visiting San Cristóbal Hill and other Santiago attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • The best attraction in Santiago a clear must visit. The statue of st Mary is at the top at the end of the tram but the best picture spot is actually in the middle stopping point where you can get the postcard picture of the tram and a not too far away view of the sky costenera. Again a must visit!
  • Great overview over the city of Santiago. The funicular gives you the chance to see more of the hill’s natural flora and you can enjoy a breathtaking picture over the skycfapers of Chile’s capital on your way back to the base of the hill. Totally recommend it for a different experience in Santiago
  • St. Christopher Hill (Cerro San Cristóbal) stands nearly 3,000 feet above the rest of Metropolitan Park, a large swath of green space in Bellavista. The hill's height affords spectacular views of the city. To reach the top of the hill, there are couple of options such as; by foot (about a 45-minute walk, involving a 300m change in elevation), by car via the road joining the Santiago Metropolitan Park, by the Funicular de Santiago (located on the North end of Pio Nono in Barrio Bellavista), or by a Teleferico (cable car located northeast at the Oasis station). If you do choose to ride the funicular, keep in mind that the last trip down the hill leaves at 6:45 p.m. A round-trip funicular ride costs 2,000 CLP (about $3.50 USD) for adults and 1,500 CLP (approximately $2.75 USD) for children between ages 3 and 13.
  • It is something that everyone who visits Santiago should do. I took an uber from my hotel to the hill. My uber ess nice enough to tell me that it's better to be at the entrance than midway. He dropped me at the entrance. You have the choice to go all the way up in the cable car to the  Chapel or you can walk. I suggest you walk up to see the views. It was something else. It does checks your stamina if you don't walk or work out. There are guards after every km where you can check the way or ask any questions. Had a traditional empanadas and mote con huesillo on the top. While on the way down I chose the cable car. It was cheap and the best way to descend. Overall I enjoyed the hike and the views.
  • This is a very beautiful park with fantastic views and it’s really easy to get to. Take the metro line 1 to Baquedano station then walk north about four blocks and you’re there. I took the bus round trip to almost the top (you have to hike the last bit) and then back down. It cost about 3 usd. I didn’t take the cable car because I was scared it would get stuck and I would be trapped but I’m sure the view from the cable cars are way better than from the road. The weird thing was that when I checked my Swatch after exiting the park, it was a couple hours behind. As if it had stopped the whole time I was on the hill. It’s never done that before.
