The indigenous sculptures commemorate the 1881 transfer of the surrounding land from the hands of the Mapuche people to colonial control. This agreement was a double-edged sword, as it allowed the establishment of Temuco, but also had negative effects on the area's indigenous population. Explore the surrounding park, which offers plenty of enjoyable walking trails, a lagoon, and an environmental center, as well as several picnic sites.     Brilliant exercise with well established trails (recommend good walking shoes though). Beautiful forest and also some playgrounds for children in various areas. Bird song and great views of the city.....  more

    This is a lovely natural area at the edge of Temuco. The trails are not blazed but it's not hard to follow the map posted at the entrance. Good views from the top.
