Create an itinerary including Bell and Drum Towers
Admire Beijing’s Bell and Drum Towers, two towers that were used to tell time in ancient China, and landmarks of the city. The drum tower dates back to the 13th century and the rule of Kublai Khan, while the bell tower was probably built a century later. Restored many times over the years, the towers were opened to the public in the 1980’s. Climb one of the historic structures, the taller of which is the drum tower at 47 m (154 ft), for a rewarding view of the city center and to see the surviving drum and bronze bell. • The tower itself is pretty cool, seemingly plunked down right in the middle of a regular neighborhood it is probably missed by most tourists. But I would recommend trying to come and pay a visit if only to watch the locals hang out in the square out front of the tower. Really cool activities including a foot game using a shuttlecock... one tiny lady was so good at it I watched her for several minutes in awe.
  • Very nice view of the heights of the Drum Tower. This tower was once an indicator of time and told the time to the people of Beijing through drums, located inside the tower. I recommend going there when a Drum Session is scheduled.
  • The place is beautiful, it is worth following a guide who explains everything about the place. There is a drum show that is a "must stop", you must!!
