A complex of mausoleums housing the tombs of thirteen Ming emperors, Ming Tombs (Ming Shishan Ling) represents the largest imperial burial area in China and a World Heritage Site. Carefully laid out in line with feng shui principles, the tomb area covers 120 sq km (46.3 sq mi), each mausoleum occupying an independent section. Walk along the 7 km (4 mi) route leading you into the complex, flanked by guardian statues of camels, elephants, horses, and soldiers--at the end, its impressive gate ranks among the largest stone arches in China. Explore pavilions displaying imperial seals, scrolls, robes, and other regalia, and admire a huge statue of a turtle god carrying a memorial tablet. Note that only three out of 13 tombs are open to the public. Planning Beijing trip won't be overwhelming when you use Klarna Trips's itinerary maker.

  • I saw that the sultan of Indonesia was buried there. This showed that the relationship between the two countries has been close for a long time ago.

  • If you are not a history fanatic, don’t go to this place, there are plenty of temples and Monasteries inside BJ to get your fill of. This place is a bit of a hike outside of BJ. ~50km from downtown.....  more

  • Changling is small unexcavated tomb. It’s a good combo with the nearby Dingling tomb that is excavated.
  • Beautiful place to see some of the vast history of China.
  • Realy big place, take your time to visit!
  • Nothing much interesting other than a tomb stone and buildings.
  • One of three locations in the Ming Tombs open, Changling hasn't been excavated, so there's no underground cavern to visit here. But the grounds themselves are big and the above ground architecture is worth visiting. There's some artifacts inside the main hall that are worth examining in detail. Very worth the price of admission.
