The Museum of Qin Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses boasts a collection of over 8,000 carved soldiers and horses. The figures in this World Heritage Site were buried in the 3rd century BCE with the first emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, to protect him in the afterlife. The thousands of life-size soldiers stand at attention as an imperial army would in real life. Look for remains of the paint that originally lacquered each statue. Note to self, stay away during holidays. The crush of people was an experience all its own. Other than that, this site is definitely on the must-see list.

Terracotta Warriors of Xi'an China. Worth seeing if you ever get the chance. This place is amazing. There are so many things to see here and the story behind this site is incredible. I would highly recommend visiting here to any tourist.

Took the sleeper train from Shanghai to Xian. Really odd to have different sleepers below me on the 12 +hour journey. Comfortable and inexpensive. No English spoken at Xian. I photographed all the places I wanted to see. Station, left luggage etc. if in doubt in China ask for Hilton hotel. Even if there isn’t one, the driver will go to the city centre. Got to the warrior site. So big. So stunning. I went around five o clock. No queues. Could easily see around the pits. It was an amazing experience. Taxis will always try and rip you off. I got a lift back to the station from some Chinese looking hippies. Mad to get in their car but…..

Visited in 2019, definitely one of the most significant historical sites in China! Very impressive scale, can’t imagine how much resources was poured into making this thousands of years ago!

A must visit when u r in China. It is a super large collection of life-size terra cotta sculptures in battle formations, reproducing the mega imperial guard troops of Emperor Qin Shi Huang (259 - 210BC), the first emperor of the first unified dynasty of Imperial China. Being the most significant archeological excavations of the 20th century and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Terracotta Army is no doubt a must-see for every visitor to Xi'an.

Mind boggling, awesome, incredible, not to be missed. Was an extra to the tour. Even with 38°C heat haven't regretted this visit.
