We loved Baisha village so much we came twice! It is a lot quieter than Shuhe and Lijiang, and authentically old! It hasn’t really been built up at all and it was really nice wandering up and down...

This is a very old town and very layback. Has a different feeling to Shuhe or the Old Town. Which one to go? All three are different. If you like a quieter town with more opportunities for old town..... more

This is a lovely quaint village on the edge of Yulong mountain, 30 mins drive from Lijiang, with tasteful craft shops and coffee shops. We visited on a weekday in January and it was incredibly quiet..... more

Awesome paintings. It will be very helpful for who study Buddhist paintings and history. However people seldom visit here. Most of them are just working around street designed for tourists.

Baisha is definitely less busy than Shuhe and Dayan. It does still cater to tourists, but there are fewer tourists in all and so the atmosphere is quiet and less hectic than in other parts of Lijiang. There are more local people and there seems to be more of a local community than in Shuhe. Importantly, you can get cheaper coffee here than in Shuhe. Bus number 6 takes you from Shuhe to Baisha, but from Baisha back to Shuhe it stops running after 8pm. Taxi’s heading out of town are hard to find at night unless you know how to order one through Chinese online apps.
